The first floor housed the most important room of the house the “Chansa” which served as the living room and kitchen both. It was the place where the family spent most of their time together and also entertained their guests. The Chansa had “Thap” traditional stove which was used for heating and cooking purpose.
Today the Chansa has been remodeled into a multipurpose hall with a seating capacity of 30 people. A small library is also established in the hall with books on Ladakh, Philosophy, Travel, India and Fiction.
